Have you surfed Cuba’s coastline, or hiked through Turquino National Park? We need your words and images for our next Insider’s Guide to Cuba!

Have a look through the titles and let us know in the submission form below which ones you’re an expert at and why you are perfect to write the story.

Please note – we have a specific brief, with specific requirements for style, tone and approach. DO NOT SEND COMPLETED WORKS THROUGH MOJOS. You must apply to be awarded the commissions and we will be in touch if you are successful with more details regarding the assignment.

Payment: 50 cents (USD) per word. If you’re a blogger, writer or author, we’re also happy to put a backlink in the author bio. For photo stories, payment will be discussed separately.

The Brief:

Select one or more of the following stories about Cuba. Please note, though included experiences under each story is mandatory, we also welcome your personal tips and additions – you’re the insider!

1. Turquino National Park – AKA Sierra Maestra National Park (550 words maximum, 5 photos)

Day trips, top hiking trails, things to see, why it’s a must visit for travelers.

2. Top Surfing Spots in Cuba (550 words maximum and up to 5 photos)

Key places: Yumuri, Baconao, Cabo de San Antonio, La setenta, Playas del Este, Sun Beach, Playa Mar Verde.

3. Safety Tips for Surfers (550 words)

How to stay safe when surfing alone overseas, severe weather and what ocean conditions travelers should keep an eye out for, what to do if you see a shark in the water, first-aid you should keep on the beach or on you in the water.

4. Safety for LGBT Travel in Cuba (550 words)

Is Cuba safe for LGBT communities, what areas to avoid, the current situation.

5. Pitch Your Travel Story! (550 words maximum, up to 5 photos)

Pitch us a compelling travel tale you’ve got from Cuba! If we like the story you’ve got to tell, we’ll commission you to write for us.
